Freedomsat and Avanti Sign New Partnership with Hylas 4 Launch!

Freedomsat (operated by Bentley Walker Ltd) are honoured to announce a new partnership with Avanti Communications Group plc for capacity on the HYLAS 4 satellite.

The existing relationship between Freedomsat and Avanti has been a strong and profitable one with Freedomsat’s flagship DVB-S2X networks in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya running off HYLAS 2 - as well as the highly popular Avanti Consumer and Avanti Superfast services available in the UK and ROI.

HYLAS 4 was launched by an Ariane 5 rocket on 5 April 2018 and was manufactured by Orbital ATK (now Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems). It boasts sixty-four 28GHz fixed beams covering Africa and parts of Europe as well as four independent steerable beams ready to serve Africa, South America or Europe - all operated from five Gateway Earth Stations.

This High Throughput Satellite (HTS) is the latest addition to Avanti’s fleet. Through this partnership, Freedomsat extends their Ka-band coverage of the continent of Africa and can offer lower costs per bit of bandwidth - bringing the freedom of high-speed and affordable satellite internet to more people.

Not only is this an exciting development in the wider satellite telecommunications industry, it is a proud moment in Freedomsat’s history.
